Breeding Console — Picbreeder · VLM

##### What was Picbreeder?
Picbreeder was a collaborative art application based on an idea called evolutionary art,
which is a technique that allows pictures to be bred almost like animals. For example,
you could evolve a butterfly into a bat by selecting parents that looked like bats.
This is a reconstruction of the original site using AI.

Breeding Console

Branching from “Apple (ancestor)”—published by a human Picbreeder user. The top-left tile is the original; the rest are its mutations. Keep what you like and Evolve.

Pick the image(s) you like by clicking them—a selected tile turns green—then press Evolve. Your picks carry over unchanged and the rest of the grid is re-bred from them by mutation and crossover. Press Space or Enter to evolve selected— u or z to undo, r to restart, x to roll again.

Each tile is painted by a CPPN: for every pixel the network reads (x, y, r, bias)—where r is distance from center—and outputs a color. Selection edits the network's weights, connections, and activation functions. Everything runs in your browser. « Back to the gallery · About the project
